Three students presented their research at the BuildSys 2025 international conference<\/h2>\n\n\n

\u3000In November 2025, three students from our laboratory presented their research at The 12th ACM International Conference on Systems for Energy-Efficient Buildings, Cities, and Transportation (BuildSys 2025), held in Golden, Colorado, USA. BuildSys is a highly selective international conference dedicated to systems research in the fields of architecture, urban planning, and transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u3000Junya Maruyama, our third-year doctoral student, presented \u201cSpatiotemporal Location Distribution of Human Movement: A Behaviorally Aware Soft Decoding Approach,\u201d while Yuki Kida, our second-year master\u2019s student, presented \u201cHow Seasons Shape Park Experience: Quantifying Openness and Colorfulness with Wearable LiDAR.\u201d Additionally, Ayumi Mukai, our second-year doctoral student, presented \u201cSemantic Shifts in Japanese Architectural Discourse with Operational Implications\u201d at the Ph.D. Forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u3000J.Maruyama\u2019s presentation proposed a new approach for estimating spatiotemporal location distributions while accounting for the uncertainty inherent in human mobility data. Y.Kida\u2019s presentation used wearable LiDAR to quantify the openness and richness of color in urban parks, examining the impact of seasonal changes on spatial experience. A.Mukai\u2019s presentation analyzed shifts in meaning within Japanese architectural discourse to explore implications for architectural practice. All of these presentations demonstrated our laboratory\u2019s efforts to use data and mathematical methods to decipher the relationships between people, space, and society, with a focus on architectural and urban spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
